Celebrating tradition in colour and light the MIDO Commander Gradient Catrines Special Edition pays tribute to Mexicos Da de Muertos with artistry and Swiss precision.

Inspiration and Design

The Commander Gradient Catrines continues MIDOs homage to Mexican cultural identity, dedicated to the Day of the Dead. The dial features the iconic skull of El Catrn, surrounded by flowers and hand-applied in vivid lacquers. By day, the watch radiates with joyful colour; by night, its Super-LumiNova transforms the skull and floral motifs into a glowing spectacle of blue and green light.

Dial and Case Details

The distinctive acrylic dial reveals a gradient effect transparent at the centre and deepening to black at the edges offering a glimpse of the mechanical heart within. Diamond-cut hands, faceted indexes with coloured grooves, and a date window at 3 oclock complete the composition under a domed, faceted sapphire crystal.

Its satin-finished stainless steel case (40 mm) is topped with a polished bezel and complemented by three easily interchangeable straps:

• Stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp

• Black leather strap with blue stitching

• Orange textured rubber strap, honouring the cempaschil flower of Da de Muertos

Water resistance is rated at 5ATM (50 m).

Movement and Mechanics

At the heart of the Catrines beats the MIDO Caliber 80 automatic movement, offering an impressive 80-hour power reserve. Equipped with a Nivachron balance spring, it ensures high resistance to magnetic fields and shocks. The oscillating weight, decorated with Ctes de Genve and engraved with the MIDO logo, can be admired through the transparent caseback.
